In an Australian-first, local hospitality tech company Redcat has launched a low-cost platform that provides three key solutions: third-party delivery, online ordering, and ordering food through Google Search and Google Maps.
Stellar is a delivery and online ordering platform that takes only days to set up, opening a new revenue stream in a matter of days. And it’s all done via a browser – no special hardware required.
Redcat used its proprietary POS technology to create Stellar in response to COVID-19, which has seen many businesses in the industry close their doors, or hold off reopening with smaller numbers because they couldn’t offer delivery or online ordering services.
Stellar will charge its customers a flat delivery fee, and a minimal online ordering fee (3% + credit card processing excl. GST).
“While the hospitality industry is hurting, home delivery demand is skyrocketing. We want to help by offering a customer-branded alternative – now you can deliver in your own name” said Jeff Lamb, Redcat CEO.
“This is a game-changer for the industry, allowing businesses that otherwise could not afford to, or didn’t have the technology to meet customer demand. It will allow many to either stay open or re-open as social distancing measures continue. The best part about it is that all you need to get up and running is a screen and an internet connection. That’s it.”
Stellar creates the business’ menu online. When a customer searches for a venue or cuisine on Google Search and Maps, they’ll see “Order Takeaway” and “Order Delivery” buttons for participating restaurants, enabling them to place their order directly through Google.
Stellar will then organise third-party delivery services through the Redcat Delivery Engine, or businesses can choose to use their own drivers. Redcat has already integrated with major customers including San Churro and Grill’d.
“Redcat has given our restaurants the opportunity to rapidly get online to deliver to our loyal customers. The challenges of bringing this to market quickly have been dealt with professionally and the technology works seamlessly,” said Mark Attard San Churro CMO.
Online ordering and delivery are not new, following the enormous growth of Uber Eats, DoorDash, Deliveroo and Menulog. However, Stellar adds 3rd Party Delivery, to extend Own Delivery from these restaurants/bars/cafes to new customers. Stellar’s commercial model is a fixed amount per delivery.
“We are very excited about Stellar’s ability to provide the hospitality industry an out of the box solution” concludes Lamb.
