Summary of the latest Victorian Government business incentives

Business Support Fund 3 The total grant will be: $10,000, $15,000 or $20,000 depending on the size of the business’ payroll for 2019/20. 

 

Standard Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Fund, businesses must:

a) Operate a business located within Victoria[1]; and
b) Be registered as operating in an industry sector that has an industry restriction level of Restricted, Heavily restricted or Closed and is not easing industry restriction levels between the First Step and Second Step of Victoria’s roadmap for reopening[2] (a business’s industry sector is defined by the industry classification (ANZSIC) linked to their ABN[3]); and
c) Be a participant in the Commonwealth Government’s JobKeeper Payment scheme[4]; and
d) Be an employing business[5] and be registered with WorkSafe Victoria[6]; and
e) Have an annual payroll of up to $10 million in 2019-20 on an ungrouped basis[7]; and
f) Be registered for Goods and Services Tax (GST) on 13 September 2020[8]; and
g) Hold an Australian Business Number (ABN) and have held that ABN at 13 September 2020; and
h) Be registered with the responsible Federal or State regulator.

Industry sector: To be eligible, an Applicant’s primary business activity must be in an eligible industry sector or sub sector and this must be reflected in the applicant’s Australian Business Number (ABN) registration information. Applicants should review their details at Australian Business Register website and update these details if needed prior to submitting an application. This includes ensuring that their industry classification (ANZSIC class code) linked to their ABN registration correctly captures their primary business type. 

The Eligible ANZSIC classes is an extensive list, which includes Restaurants/Cafes.

 

Available funding

The total grant will be: $10,000, $15,000 or $20,000 depending on the size of the business’ payroll for 2019/20:

  • $10,000 if its annual payroll is less than $650,000;
  • $15,000 if its annual payroll is between $650,000 and less than $3 million; or
  • $20,000 if its annual payroll is between $3 million and up to $10 million. 

A business as defined by its ABN can only receive one grant under Business Support Fund 3. 

 

How the funding may be used

Grant funds may be used to assist the business, for example on:

  • Meeting business costs, including utilities, salaries or rent;
  • Seeking financial, legal or other advice to support business continuity planning;
  • Developing the business through marketing and communications activities; or
  • Any other supporting activities related to the operation of the business.

Applications will remain open until funds are exhausted or until 11.59pm on 23 November 2020, whichever is earlier.

Hospitality Business Grant Program

Funding will be allocated through a grant process. Applicants apply for: a grant of $25,000 (excluding GST), an extra $5,000 for each additional premises located within Victoria (capped at $20,000), an extra $20,000 for businesses operating premises in the CBD.

CBD Small Hospitality Grant

It’s one-off grant of either $5,000 (for businesses with a food service seating capacity in the CBD of 11 to 100 seats) or $15,000 (101+ seats).

Licensed Hospitality Venue Fund

Eligible hospitality businesses will receive grants of up to $30,000 based on the location of their premises and maximum patron capacity.
