Summary
Pop-up prompts are available at selected points when entering a customer order to provide the POS user with 'call to action' visual indicators.
They can remind your staff to upsell promotional items or scan a customer's loyalty card before processing the payment, or remind them to do something once the sale is finalised - like hand out a survey or request a review.
Use cases that this functionality covers
This functionality is suitable if you want to:
- pop-up a prompt before a sale is finalised with options to return to the ordering process or proceed to payment.
- provide exclusion triggers that will cause the pre-finalisation prompt to be skipped if the target of the prompt already exists in the sale.
- pop-up a prompt after a sale is completed to remind your staff that an action is required.
Prerequisites
This functionality is available to clients with Polygon POS installations.
The software versions required are:
Polygon POS Management: 2502.25.1 or later
Polygon POS Terminal: 2502.25.1 or later
Pop-Up Sale Prompts
The pop-up prompts available fall into three (3) categories:
- pre-sale
- post-sale
- loyalty
Pre-sale prompt
A pre-sale prompt will cause the POS to check the sale for any exclusion triggers and determine if the prompt should be displayed when the POS user attempts to finalise the sale.
The action options for pre-sale prompts are:
- Go Back (abort the payment and add further items to the sale)
- Continue (no action to be taken, proceed with finalising the sale)
For example, a prompt to offer a bottle of water for $1.00 would look like this. The staff member can choose to 'go back' and add the item to the sale before finalising.
An exclusion trigger can be set to disable the prompt if the relevant item is already in the sale. In this example, the prompt will not be issued if the system finds the PLU ‘$1 Water’ already in the sale.
Post-sale prompt
A post-sale prompt will display a message for the POS user after the finalisation of a sale is complete. The message must be dismissed using the OK button.
For example, you may want to remind the POS users to hand out a survey form (or QR Code) and ask the customers to complete it.
As a post-sale prompt is displayed at the finalisation of every sale, exclusion triggers do not apply.
These prompts are programmed in the Polygon POS Management database:
POS Location Settings | POS Terminal Settings | User Prompts | General
You can learn about accessing these settings here.
Specific instructions on programming these prompts can be found here.
Loyalty Prompt
A pop-up loyalty prompt will be displayed if the POS determines that no member is associated with the sale when the user attempts to finalise it.
The action options for loyalty prompts are:
- Lookup Member (abort the payment & enter/scan the member details)
- Continue (no action to be taken, proceed with finalising the sale)
The message on the loyalty prompt can be customised to reflect the branding of your loyalty program.
This prompt is programmed in the Polygon POS Management database:
POS Location Settings | Polygon Add-On Modules | Loyalty| Cloud-based Loyalty System
You can learn about accessing these settings here.
Specific instructions on programming these prompts can be found here.
Considerations
If both a pre-sale and a loyalty prompt are valid when attempting to finalise a sale, the pre-sale prompt will be given to the POS user first followed by the loyalty prompt.
