This article provides information about Redcat's printerless kiosk option.
Summary
Customer self-ordering kiosks have become popular across hospitality businesses and are appreciated by employees and customers alike for their ability to elevate customer experiences and boost overall order values. Nonetheless, these kiosks occasionally present an array of challenges, ranging from expenses associated with consumables to interruptions arising from paper-related issues.
Responding directly to these challenges, Redcat has developed a solution that directly tackles these pain points. The Printerless Kiosk was developed to optimise business operations while simultaneously providing customers with an experience that is both more convenient and environmentally sustainable.
Key Features
The paperless kiosk offers several benefits for businesses and their customers:
-
No printer required:
The Paperless Kiosk does not have a printer attached, which means it takes up less space, has a more streamlined, elegant appearance, and requires less maintenance. This also saves money on paper consumables.
-
Digital receipt option:
The Paperless Kiosk gives customers the option to receive their receipts digitally via email whether they logged in as loyalty members or as guests. Customers can also choose to skip the receipt altogether if they prefer.
-
Less downtime:
The Paperless Kiosk reduces downtime due to the kiosk printer being out of paper. This ensures a smoother and faster checkout process for customers and staff.
-
More customer satisfaction:
The paperless kiosk allows customers to have more control over their receipt preferences and provides a more convenient and eco-friendly way to complete their transactions.

Use Cases
This product is designed to meet the need for a customer self-serving kiosk that does not include a physical POS printer.
Receipt Options in Printerless Kiosk
Given that the kiosk is configured without a printer, the customer is provided with the following options when finalising their order.
- Email Receipt
The customer can enter an email address and an Order Confirmation / Tax Invoice will be issued to that email address. - No Receipt
The customer can choose not to have a receipt issued.
Note: The options for receipts (Email Receipt / No Receipt) are only presented to the customer on Printerless Kiosks. Kiosks that are configured with a printer will automatically issue a printed receipt as the order is finalised.
Eftpos Receipts
If the customer requires a printed eftpos transaction receipt, staff at the POS can recall the kiosk sale from the Sales File and use the Print Receipt function to issue a receipt for the customer. Receipts printed for sales that originate from a kiosk will also include the eftpos receipt details if the sale was finalised with eftpos media.
You can learn how to recall a sale and reprint a receipt at the POS in this Quick Reference Guide.
