Polygon POS allows finite control, at floor level, for the amount of kitchen stock or portions per PLU item available. This is commonly known as the ‘specials countdown’ feature. It means that at the start of a trading session, the number of serves available for a particular item can be programmed, and this item will ‘countdown’ each time it is recorded as sold. This functionality can be applied not only to the POS, but also reported to Polygon Central so that Low Stock warnings and No Stock notifications will be displayed for online, app and kiosk orders.
If you choose to utilise PLU level tracking, the relevant settings must be enabled in the Polygon POS Management database. You can learn about how to do this here.
Only users who have
- Application Wide Permissions | Application Data Access | Set PLU Quantities
enabled in their POS Staff security role will be able to perform these actions.
To set the PLU Quantity Levels at the POS
- Log on to the POS terminal.
- Use the Set PLU Quantity Levels button.
- Enter your password.
- Filter or navigate to the required PLU(s).
- To set the available quantity for the PLU:
- double click and enter the relevant quantity
- use the + and - buttons on the right hand side to increase or decrease the quantity
- use the clear button to remove all quantities from this PLU
- use the Sold Out button to mark this item as Sold Out.
The PLU buttons for items that have a quantity level assigned will now display on the product keypad with the prefix 6@, where 6 is the number of items available.
As the portions are sold or saved to an open table, the number will decrease thereby making the staff aware of the availability of the item.
